Fine Strawberry Kolač

Ingredients
150 g margarine
150 g fine sugar
150 g Wondra flour
4 eggs
Peel from half lemon
Baking paper or grease and flour baking sheet
Filling
700 g strawberries
1 jar of strawberry or raspberry jam
Topping
4 egg whites
100 grams of fine sugar
20 g finely chopped walnuts
Preparation
Beat sugar and margarine until it foams. Add egg yolks and vanilla sugar, lemon peel and flour. Lightly fold in the beaten egg whites. Spread mixture on the sheet; bake at 350ºF for 8 to 10 minutes. Do not let it brown, it must stay completely white. Take out of oven and spread the jam evenly. Put the strawberries on top; if they are big, they may be cut smaller. Whip another 4 egg whites into snow. Put sugar into snow and layer on top of strawberries. Sprinkle the chopped walnuts uniformly and bake for another five minutes until the snow turns golden brown.
Kolač is excellent, crispy and will not remain uneaten by the second day.
